Course summary
Chemical hazards exist on a regular basis and spills can occur at any time managing Hazards exist in the workplace is key to ensuring our workers are safe. But how do you know which ones have the most potential to harm workers? By identifying hazards at your workplace, you will be better prepared to control or eliminate them and prevent accidents, injuries, property damage and downtime. After all, you can’t fix problems you don't know about.
Recognizing, Assessing, Controlling and then Evaluating( RACE) is the method that will be taught through this interactive training program.
Learning Objective
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Define hazard identification and risk assessment and why they are important
- Hazard identification methods (including hazard mapping, job hazard analysis, checklists, and workplace inspections)
- Methods of containment
- Selection and implementation of appropriate controls
- Hierarchy of controls
- Develop a comprehensive approach to hazard identification appropriate for your workplace
- Assess the hazards in your workplace, and determine which ones should be eliminated or controlled first
- Identify the types of hazard controls that are commonly used in various situations
- Implement a hazard control program
- Assess the effectiveness of the control measures that you have implemented
- Documentation debriefing of responders.

Supervisors, lead hands, workers, health and safety committee members/ representatives, and any workers involved in job planning with Chemicals.

This is a 3-4 hour theory program with sample mock assessments in the workplace to identify gaps and skills developed.
